Emilia Onthank is an interdisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia. Her work explores her internal landscape in an art historical context, using self portraiture and alter egos to examine how Bodies are looked at in art and the narratives they form. Trained in painting and sculpture at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, where she received her BFA in 2019, her practice is devoted to material particularity and includes multiple painting mediums, printmaking, video, wire sculpture, and a heavy focus on drawing. She has taught several forms of art at various after school programs, summer camps, and private lessons; notably at Philadelphia Senior Art Camp where she has taught watercolor to senior citizens for the past five summers. She has worked closely with the artists Roberto Manino, Allen Frame, and Robert Berry, served as the materials specialist at a local art supply store, and is a part of the research collective Post Americanist. She has shown locally in the Philadelphia area.
